With the U.S. national average wage at around $31.75 per hour, according to the Bureau of Labour Services (BLS), a wage of $15 per hour may not seem impressive initially. However, the jobs on this list have a few things in common: they’re all entry-level positions that don’t require a college degree, and many of them offer opportunities for career advancement.

Don’t be afraid to start at the bottom and work your way up. Even billionaires like Giorgio Armani and Jeff Bezos started their careers with humble beginnings, working for minimum wage. In fact, if you start a career in any of the professions on this list, you’re already doing comfortably better than their beginnings: you’re earning more than double the current federal minimum wage of $7.25.
